Kareena Kapoor Stars in Ritu Kumar’s Latest Couture Campaign

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ritu Kumar have come together for a new couture campaign that celebrates Indian heritage, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary fashion. Unveiled earlier this month, the campaign sees Kareena stepping into six striking couture looks, each inspired by the designer’s rich textile archives and India’s diverse craft traditions.

The Collection

The collection takes inspiration from Jamawar weaves, Chintz florals, Farrukhabad block prints and regional embroidery techniques, giving classic Indian craftsmanship a modern interpretation. The result is a collection that feels both rooted and contemporary, with dramatic silhouettes and intricate detailing taking centre stage.

Among the standout looks is the Jaisalmer Jacket and Skirt, inspired by Rajasthan’s architectural heritage. Traditional block prints are paired with intricate aari, tikki and zardozi embroidery, with the outfit reportedly taking more than 600 hours of artisanal work.

The campaign also features a statement Mehroz cape and bodysuit, a regal black-and-gold jacket paired with an embroidered kurta and denim, a contemporary patchwork saree, and a luxurious Jamawar gown. Across the looks, the styling balances elaborate craftsmanship with modern silhouettes and understated accessories.

What makes the collaboration particularly special is Kareena’s longstanding connection with the Ritu Kumar label. She has previously shared how the designer restored a treasured Pataudi family heirloom for her wedding, adding a personal connection to the campaign’s focus on heritage and memories.

Styled by Rhea Kapoor, the campaign has a distinctly cinematic feel, bringing together vintage-inspired fashion and contemporary styling. With its celebration of India’s textile traditions, intricate craftsmanship and modern couture, the campaign is a beautiful reminder that heritage fashion can continue to evolve while retaining its timeless charm.
