In the land of fish, coconuts and beautiful beaches, a legend of hairstylists was born. She was named Maria and was destined to make a difference in many lives. Her family shifted from Goa to Mumbai when she was only 6 years old, and she was exposed to the world of Bollywood. Everyday, she enjoyed making many new and spectacular hairstyles, for her family, neighbours and friends. Her parents soon realized that Maria possessed a special in-born gift, and encouraged her to follow her dreams. Young Maria could never have imagined what amazing things life had in store for her, when she took up her passion for hairstyling as a career, and stepped into the world of Bollywood in 1970.
She first displayed her amazing skills for hairstyling in the movie 'Dastak'(1970). She is famously known as the 'Diva Maker', and she made her hairstyling entry into Bollywood with debutante actress Rehana Sultana, who won a prestigious award for the same film. They also paired together in the movie 'Chetna' in the same year, which won appreciation from critics and audience, on a large scale. Maria got married and changed her name to Manju Sharma, but she is still famously known as Maria Sharma. She soon opened a beauty parlour, and named it after her daughter Rachana, very popularly known as 'Rachana's Beauty Parlour'. ... ...Less
