We had booked peninsula grand for an engagement ceremony on 28th Jan 2018 while everything was good, during billing we were told that mini bar of one of the changing rooms is empty and invoice showed around Rs 7000 for the miniature bottles (this was actually cost of the rooms if you check online), we immediately rushed to the rooms and saw minibar empty however we did not even see any leftover bottles, it was very easy for everyone to blame on the boys who attended the ceremony, however rooms were given on 2nd floor and ceremony was in the lawn also there was hardly anyone apart from the bride and groom and a few others like makeup guys had used the room, while we were embarrassed about the situation we noticed that is was brides room who's minibar was stolen not the obvious grooms room (this is where the hotel made a mistake), it became obvious to us hotel was cheating unnecessary and they started to deny everything and just asked to pay, after around an hour of discussion we had to pay because it was getting a little dirty for a few thousands. FYI this also brings to the story that rooms were offered as complementary along with the engagement package where as other hotels charge for this and now we realized why! this was a great lesson learnt by us, how fancy hotels can be as down market as possible to rip you off for some extra cash, next time you are at some place, make sure you ask them to remove all the things in the minibar and snacks table.
