Vinayak By Asha Gupta

Ever since she can remember she has felt an unbounded urge to make things beautiful. As a child she toyed with clothes and what started as a simple hobby soon grew into a fierce passion and love for design. Born and brought up in the Akola district of Maharashtra, designer Asha Gupta completed her BSc from Nagpur University. Right out of college she concentrated all her energy into her debut collection. The overwhelming response to her small but beautifully made first collection encouraged her to further her art. She soon found herself digging deeper into India's rich history, culture and tradition of textiles and embroidery. From Varanasi and Kutch to Cochin, Kashmir and Jaisalmer, she engaged with weavers and found herself within a treasure trove of age-old wisdom and craft. Asha went on to innovate and create her own diverse vocabulary of design that is evident in every garment she has made ever since.

In 2003, her son Gautam Gupta joined her and realized the need of the hour, he gradually began to preserve and transform his mother's label into a luxury lifestyle brand. Rich, sophisticated and rare, VINAYAK has now come to stand for bespoke design that will pander to their customers every need. They were soon showcasing at both national and international venues and even exhibited with Bride & Groom and Vivah. In 2009, their Bridal collection went on to receive rave reviews and appreciation from media, buyers and clients alike. VINAYAK went on to showcase another collection in 2010 at the Taj Palace in New Delhi and has since participated in most of the reputed fashion weeks as well.
