    The Society was formed during 70's when a group of 50 weavers decided to form a society and approached late Mr M G Ramachandran to lend his name to this society. Mr. MGR at this request lent his title "VALLALAR". To be used as the weavers were also the followers of the renouned Tamil Saint Vallalar Swamigal. In this period of four decades the society has had a phenomenl growth to shelter around 8, 000 member looms and manufacturing and marketing of kancheepuram sarees.
